How to exclude report findings

Issue Exclusions let you remove specific findings from your reports. This is useful for findings that have been accepted as a business risk, addressed outside of Nipper InfraSight, or are not relevant to your environment. Excluded findings are removed from any report you subsequently generate. You can exclude a finding for a single device, for all devices of a particular type, or for all devices in the audit.

Excluding a Finding

  1. Open a generated report and locate the finding, device or affected device you want to exclude in the navigation window on the right of the screen.
  2. Select the item, then either click the Exclude button, or right-click the item and choose Exclude Finding from the context menu.
  3. In the Exclusions dialog, choose how widely the exclusion should apply:
    • Exclude <Device Name> - only excludes the finding for this specific device.
    • Exclude All <Device Type> Devices - excludes the finding for every device of this type.
    • Exclude All Devices - excludes the finding across the whole audit.
  4. If you only want the exclusion to apply to the current report, tick Temporary Exclude (Don't Save). Leave this unticked if you want the exclusion to persist and apply to future reports too.
  5. Optionally, enter a Reason / Comment to record why the finding has been excluded.
  6. Click OK to apply the exclusion.
  7. You will be asked if you want to regenerate the report immediately so the exclusion takes effect, or you can regenerate it later.

Managing Your Exclusions

All exclusions, whether saved or temporary, can be reviewed, edited and removed in one place.

  1. Go to Report, Issue Exclusions.
  2. Select an exclusion from the list to view and edit its details, including the exclusion type, the device or device type it applies to, whether it is temporary, and the reason/comment.
  3. To delete an exclusion so the finding appears in future reports again, select it and click Remove.

Note: Changes to your exclusions are not reflected in a report until it is regenerated.

Importing and Exporting Exclusions

From the Issue Exclusions dialog, the Import and Export buttons allow your saved exclusions to be transferred between installations of Nipper InfraSight, or applied via the command line interface.
